LaCie Update Tool v1.3.1 for Mac OS X (November 16, 2004)
LaCie Update Tool v1.3.1 adds the latest firmware support for d2 and Design by F.A. Porsche drives with FireWire+ and FireWire ATAPI bridges for improved reliability. It also updates the LaCie d2 Hard Drive Extreme, Big Disk Triple/Extreme and Bigger Disk Triple/Extreme to the latest firmware for better Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility in case the drive is moved to that environment. Requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

IMPORTANT: Updating drive firmware is a critical task that should be done with attention to the included instructions. While LaCie has taken precautions to prevent data loss, be sure to have a backup copy of any important files or data before attempting to update firmware. Normally, firmware updating will not alter any data on the drive. If there are other unanticipated issues with your system, data loss is possible during the update process. Please proceed with caution. Be sure that your operating system is running correctly.

LaCie Update Tool for Windows (August 19, 2004)
Note: Please consider these points before using the LaCie Updater on your FireWire 800 drive for better XP SP2 compatibility:

1. Please backup critical data before using the update tool. While LaCie has made every effort to assure a problem free update, data loss may still be possible. If the update is not successful, your data may not be recoverable, even after drive repair.

2. For the most reliable update, please use a computer that has a FireWire 400 interface, and one that has NOT been updated to XP SP2. If you cannot meet these requirements, please delay your update to XP SP2.

3. Please review the compatibility matrix document for further information.

LaCie is continuing to refine the updater tool to provide wider compatibility with computers already updated to XP SP2, or computers that have only a FireWire 800 interface.
